Frequently asked questions about skiing in Romania
Which are the best ski areas in Romania?
Poiana Brașov has the largest area and modern lifts; Sinaia climbs to high altitude (the 2000 m level); Straja and Transalpina Ski Resort (Vidra) have varied runs. Choose by level, altitude and budget.
When is the ski season?
Roughly December–March, sometimes into April at high altitude, depending on snow and snow cannons. The most reliable months for good snow are January–February.
Is the slope data (length, difficulty) reliable?
It's indicative — we flag it as such. Always check the snow report and open slopes on the resort's website before you go; we don't show open slopes we can't confirm.
Is there night skiing?
Yes, at several resorts (for example Straja, Poiana Brașov, Transalpina). We note for each area whether it has night skiing, but the schedule changes — check on the spot.
