Cabana Padiș is a mountain hut at roughly 1280 m, set in the heart of the Padiș karst plateau, in the Apuseni Mountains. It is the main base for exploring one of the most fascinating karst landscapes in Romania, with caves, sinkholes and underground watercourses.
The Padiș plateau is a maze of clearings, forests and limestone formations, and the hut serves as the central hub from which most of the trails set off. The atmosphere is that of a great gateway into the underground world of the Apuseni.
Getting there
Road access runs on forest/upgraded roads from Pietroasa (the Crișul Pietros valley) or from Boga. The roads can be demanding in places; check their condition and parking before setting off.
For hiking, the marked trails connect Padiș with the surrounding areas; follow the markings matching each objective, as the trail network is dense.

The recommended season is summer and early autumn; in spring the terrain is wet and muddy, and in winter access is difficult. Check availability in advance, as lodging is sought after in season.
