Castelul Cantacuzino

Cantacuzino Castle sits on a terrace above Bușteni, facing the escarpment: from the garden, the Bucegi wall looks close enough to touch, and on clear days the Caraiman Cross shows as a white line against the sky. Built by the Cantacuzino family in the Neo-Romanian style, with stone arcades, a fountain and a park stepping down in terraces, it reads more as a statement residence than a fortress — and it is one of the best-rated visits in the area, with a 4.4 Google rating from tens of thousands of reviews.

Its fame grew further once it became a filming location, so on summer weekends it pays to arrive early. The interiors are seen on a set route, but much of the pleasure is outside, in the park and on the view terrace, made for a long coffee.
