Pelișor sits a few hundred metres from Peleș, on the same royal estate at the edge of Sinaia, and it is the opposite of its neighbour in almost everything: smaller, more intimate, far less gilded. It was Queen Marie's house, and the Art Nouveau interiors — pale wood, floral motifs, the famous Golden Room — say more about her personal taste than about court protocol. With a 4.7 Google rating from over 3323 reviews, it is consistently praised, and many visitors are surprised to find they prefer it to the grander castle next door.

The visit is shorter than at Peleș Castle, so the two pair naturally into a single morning. After that Sinaia opens upward: the ski area in winter, the Cota 2000 cable car and the Bucegi plateau the rest of the year.

Good to know Weekends and holidays draw crowds and entry is by guided group; early morning is still the best slot. For the wider picture see Prahova Valley & Bucegi, and for eating and sleeping, restaurants and stays in Sinaia.
